Sentiment analysis
Sentiment analysis is the process of classifying text, like a review, as positive, negative or neutral, usually with a model rather than a person reading each one.
Sentiment analysis is the process of classifying text, like a review, as positive, negative or neutral, usually with a model rather than a person reading each one. It matters in e-commerce data because raw review text and star ratings alone don't scale to thousands of reviews across many products; sentiment analysis turns that text into a signal that can be tracked over time or compared across competitors. It works on top of review mining, which collects the raw review text and rating; sentiment analysis is a processing step applied afterward, not a replacement for having the underlying text available, since the raw text is still needed to understand why sentiment shifted.
