Data freshness
Data freshness is how recently a piece of data was collected relative to when it's used, usually measured as the time since the last observation.
Data freshness is how recently a piece of data was collected relative to when it's used, usually measured as the time since the last observation. It matters in e-commerce data because prices, stock and promotions change continuously, and a dataset that's technically correct but a week old can lead to a pricing decision that's already wrong. Freshness is a function of crawl frequency, how often a source is checked, and delivery speed, how quickly collected data reaches the end user after collection. A feed described as daily or weekly is making a freshness commitment, which is why matching the refresh schedule to how fast the underlying data actually changes matters more than defaulting to the fastest option available.
