Price monitoring
Price monitoring is the practice of repeatedly checking what a product sells for across one or more stores and recording each price over time.
Price monitoring is the practice of repeatedly checking what a product sells for across one or more stores and recording each price over time. It matters in e-commerce because prices change without notice, through sales, algorithmic repricing or inventory-driven adjustments, and a single snapshot tells you nothing about the pattern behind it. A price monitoring feed typically pairs the current price with the list price, currency and a timestamp, refreshed on a fixed schedule such as weekly, daily or hourly. The output feeds competitor analysis, MAP enforcement and automated repricing engines. Without monitoring, pricing decisions rely on whatever a person happened to notice, which misses most of the changes that actually affect margin.
