List price

List price is the price a product is advertised at before any discount, markdown or promotion is applied.

List price is the price a product is advertised at before any discount, markdown or promotion is applied. It matters in e-commerce data because the gap between list price and the actual selling price is itself a signal: it shows promotion depth and frequency, and it's one of the two numbers MAP monitoring compares against a manufacturer's minimum. A price feed that captures only the current selling price without the list price loses this context entirely. Some stores show a list price explicitly with a strikethrough; others only show the current price, in which case list price has to be inferred from price history rather than read directly off the page.
